New Transient Hangar Opens in Guymon

State and local leaders celebrated the opening of a 12,000-square-foot transient hangar at Guymon Municipal Airport in late June. The project was developed through a partnership between the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the City of Guymon.

The facility expands the airport’s ability to accommodate visiting aircraft, business aviation traffic, and operators supporting agriculture, energy, and regional commerce. Officials note that Guymon Municipal Airport is the largest public airport in the Oklahoma Panhandle, serving approximately 19,000 annual operations and more than 30 based aircraft.

City Manager Micheal Shannon has described the airport as an essential gateway for the Panhandle, supporting business travel and economic activity across Texas County and the broader region.

Texas County’s economy remains closely tied to agriculture and food processing. Seaboard Foods continues to serve as a major employer and economic anchor in Guymon, supporting a significant share of local jobs and related business activity.
